Thursday thoughts

How is it possible that the week can be flying by and yet dragging on at the same time?

Tuesday, I got a funny phone call from my youngest...okay, he is the youngest only by two minutes.
***disclaimer***this is neither my bathroom nor my phone***

Wesley has this very odd habit of calling me when he is, ummm, going to the bathroom.  I don't know why he does this, but he does.  Perhaps, some people read books or magazines while taking care of their "business", while my sonny-boy chooses to call his Mother.  Hey, I'll take any phone call offered from one of my boys!

Anyway, after the normal confirmation of phone call location, he proceeds to say that he had an interesting day at school.  He was pulled from class, taken to the office, and photographed.  My first thought was, uh-oh, this could be good, or this could be bad, very bad (followed quickly by thoughts of hmmm, did they finger print him too?)

"Really, dear?  What was that all about?"

"They said I made Honor Roll!"

"Oh, well, that is wonderful news sweetie!"  (HUGE sigh of relief)

"Yeah, but I don't know why?"

"Maybe, because you actually turned in some homework?"

"Ha ha Mom! No, really, I don't know how I did it."

(What do you really say to that?  Other than, just go with it baby...)

"Okay, well, I gotta go"

"I thought you WERE going"

"ha ha"

Strange conversations abound between the four of us.  Love those boys.

Bought a new toy Tuesday as well.  We have been thinking long and hard for some time now about increasing our pantry stockpile with healthy foods made by me or purchased with very little processing.  I have a dehydrator already, but don't utilize it to its best potential.  Our goal is to grow a lot of our  veggies and put them up ourselves.  Next year, I plan on doing some canning.  So, as part of this stockpile extravaganza I bought ...
a FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer.

Last thought of the day, is mani/pedis.  I hate doing them.  Normally, I don't even bother with doing my fingernails, because mine are very thin and stay perpetually short.  I got my Granny Grammer's hands.  Thank you very much, I'll take 'em.  She was an amazing woman...a fabulous cook and a source of boundless energy (probably partly due to the nap she took every afternoon because a doctor in the 1940's or 50's told her she should) and phenomenal work ethic.  When it comes to my toes, I like 'em pink, but HATE doing them also and I refuse to go have them done.  BUT, some bee got in my bonnet the other day and forced me to suddenly CRAVE pretty fingers and toes at the same time.

While out doing the week's shopping, I got brave, adventurous, and went out on a limb.  No bright pink...

No rockin' red...

Steel gray...yes, you heard me, steel gray.  Has a bit of a mauvey undertone.  It is neutral and for me, pretty cutting edge.  Sort of a browny, pinky, gray.
