It is that time of the week again.  What is going on...on the needles...

The baby sacque is finished and is presently on the blocking mat.  A picture of it will be up on Friday.

The next thing I have been working on this week is the matching hat (soon to be followed by the booties).  A valid question at this point would be..."I thought these were supposed to be done LAST weekend for the shower?"  Well, that was the plan, but the shower got postponed, so I got a reprieve!

Here is the hat so far...

Also finished is the Square #12 which will also be featured later this week.

In June, a couple of friends and I went to the Hoosier Hills Fiber Arts Festival.  It was a real eye opener.  Such beautiful yarns, and patterns, and all sorts of thing-a-ma-bobs.  I had been intrigued by the idea of spinning and did try it with a drop spindle.  The jury is still out on that one, but it does still fascinate me.  The only thing I purchased there was a ball of a beautiful blue roving wool.  My intention was to make felted soap.  The ball got stuffed in amongst the rest of my stash and it has popped up on my mental radar periodically.  Monday, I finally broke down and picked up some lovely smelling French-milled soap to use for the project.  Retrieved the ball from my stash, and after two days of having to reclaim it from the cats, finally got a practice bar done.

Norman was suffering from the delusion that it was actually a toy for him and his buddies.

Rear left is the box of soaps used, front center is "the ball", and rear right is my first felted soap bar.

This was a simple project.  May have to track down some more super nice roving to use for more.

It was brought to my attention that there are just a little over 3 months until Christmas.  My list of things to make for gifts needs to get out of my head and into black and white on paper.  Part of the gift list projects have already been started, but I keep forgetting what I was making and for whom.  Santa needs a helper!

  1. I love love love the Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino! If it wasn't so expensive I think it would be my yarn of choice!

  2. Ooh the little felted soap things look like an excellent small gift. Are there directions online anywhere?

  3. Oh, Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino! Very cool. I've felt it in store but have never used it. Lucky you!

    Your kitty is adorable.
