WIPW

Today's WIPW actually starts with Tuesday.  Earlier I had posted pics of some the cardboard in the house.  Since that time, Chris and his project partner have come to the conclusion that they don't have quite enough time (after you take away their job hours, school hours, other homework hours, and let's not forget those mandatory xbox game playing hours)...can you sense the sarcasm in the last bit?...to make the ginormous boat they originally planned on.

Plan B...now the focus is a "Castaway" theme.  This translates to they are gonna build a raft...still the same hours constraints apply, but now not only do I have cardboard boxes and sheets everywhere, but also 14 cardboard carpet rolls cut into 9 and 3 foot sections!

Here is a glimpse into the retrieval/procurement process yesterday of said tubes...

Chris at the carpet store attempting to cut the tubes down to smaller size with scissors from my knitting bag. (Sorry for the sorry pic quality...phone)

Ever try driving and parking with tubes sticking out of your passenger side window?
One the plus side, on the way home, Chris commented that I sure do put up with "a lot of crap for his school projects'...to which I smiled and said "it's all just part of it baby".  That was probably the closest to a teenage thank you I'm going to get and I will gladly take it.

Today, I was scrambling around at the shop trying to get things done so I could get out of there and pick up Chris to take him to work (yep, perpetual taxi...in the last two weeks have put over 1000 miles on my car), so out of desperation I just draped my projects on the couch in our office...at least I had the good camera with me!

Almost done with the first sleeve for the butterfly sweater.

Just glancing at this, it looks like some weird deformed bikini.  But it is NOT, it is the front two pieces and half of the back for this.  Found the yarn at Tuesday Morning (in the #27 purple/rust colorway.)  It is a very quick knit.  When the pattern arrived, errata was included suggesting use of US 7 and 8's, but I am choosing to follow the pattern as written and am using US 10 1/2 and 11's.

Almost done with my first super scarf.

The end.

Now to finish making dinner.
Or dig into the Halloween candy again.

WHY did I buy some yesterday???
Oh yeah....Target gift cards with purchase.

Yep, I am a pushover.

  1. LOL, I actually laughed out loud at the tubes of carpet. So awesome!

Don't worry, my pictures are always on my wicker chest/coffee table/couch. No need to be fancy. ;)

The sweater color is so great. I love it the more you work on it!

  2. I'm impressed by your son's creativity & willingness to think outside of the box (not to mention think bigger than the car!).

It's never too early for Halloween candy :-)

  3. I made an audible gasp at him cutting cardboard with the scissors from your knitting bag.

After reading your post, I'm not missing those teenage years I/we barely survived. There was a time when I had 3 in the house. I believe I slept standing up most days.

You must knit in your sleep.

  4. A raft out of carpet tubes! How original! And 1000 miles in 2 weeks?! Wow! When do you find the time to knit?
