About Me

No, I did not intend to wind up with 5 cats thus insuring my status as a crazy cat lady.  It is my son's fault.  A few years ago, our neighbors approached him with the sad tale of the lake feral cat.  They had walked onto their boat only to discover that the cat had delivered a litter of kittens, fittingly, amongst the pile of life vests.  The kittens were clearly only  a day or two old and Mama was nowhere to be found.

They moved the kittens to a box and left them on their dock.  I am sure you know what happened...Mama did NOT come back.  So, what does my son do, but rescue them, of course!  Now, what Mother can turn away a box full of itty bitty kitties when presented with them by her son on MOTHER'S DAY?!?!

There were 5 kittens and we proceeded to bottle feed them and care for them night and day.  They went to work with me in a large box.  Well, they went pretty much everywhere with me...they were babies after all.  They got daily baths, for obvious reasons, and soon I was litter box training and dry food training them.  Three of them were adopted out and the last two (Noisy Nora and Amelia) were left to live with us, joining the family of my other two cats:  Bella and Sophie.  Along the way, we soon discovered that our gender identifying talents were lacking.  We really had a Norman and an Amos!

Over the summer, the Mama cat would be spotted, looking tellingly plump again, but never caught.  In September, a miniature spitting image of Mama cat was found in our yard.  Nabbed her, she was a bit on the wild side, named her Ashley and there you have it.  Two more times, feral kittens were caught and adopted out.  We were finally able to capture Mama and removed her from the area.

So, how did Five Cats From Crazy come about?  One night, my dear hubs and I were watching TV and a character on the show was dealing with ghostly visits from her dead fiance.  She was "talking" to him and said that she was "already five cats away from crazy".  We looked at each other and burst out laughing.  About the same time, I was considering starting a blog to chronicle my escapades in knitting, using coupons, cooking, sewing, life, what have you.  Ta Da! Five Cats From Crazy was born.
